About Us

JARC is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that currently operates ten group homes for adults with developmental disabilities.  The homes are located in the Boca Raton/Delray Beach area of South Florida.  JARC also offers apartment living for those who do not require 24-hour supervision as well as vocational training in our state-of-the-art Mel & Elaine Stein Living and Learning Center.

The organization was created in the mid 1980's in response to the needs of families with adult children with developmental disabilities.  Led by a committed group of individuals who were focused on providing a service that did not exist, a private fund-raising initiative was undertaken, leading to the opening of JARC's first home, the Barry Clayman House in 1987.

The organization was accorded status with the local Jewish Federation and began a rapid period of growth that saw it open three more homes; the Rockoff House in 1990, the Brumer House in 1991 and the Melvin Rosenblatt House in 1997.

In the spring of 2001, JARC opened two additional group homes, the Thelma And Morris Sampson House, and the Estelle Edelstein House.

In the summer of 2009 JARC opened the Rales Campus,  west of Boca Raton.  The Rales Campus is the location of our four newests group homes, the Steven Rales Home, the Stewart Rales Home, The Mitchell Rales Home and the Joshua Rales Home.  These homes are state of the art with hurrincane impact windows, a back up generator system and an on-site fitness center.

In addition, JARC has opened the doors on a landmark project, the Mel and Elaine Stein Living and Learning Center.  This state-of -the-art facility is the first of its kind in South Florida, and a model for similar agencies around the country.  It houses the Adolph and Rose Levis Apartment Complex, supported living for adults who do not require 24-hour supervision in order to live as valued members of the community, and the Mel and Edith Clayman Training and Resource Center which offers the latest in vocational training as well as social and recreational programs?not only for the residents of JARC, but for those in need within the community.

JARC's administrative offices are also located in the Mel and Elaine Stein Living and Learning Center in Boca Raton, Florida.  The organization is run by a professional staff and a volunteer board of directors.
